Join us at the “Patricia Piccinini: That’s Us!” exhibition opening
"Patricia Piccinini: That's Us!" exhibition opens 29 October 2021!
Join us at the Center of Contemporary Art at 6 PM.
"Patricia Piccinini is the psychologist of the New Beings that we may be creating or that we may be becoming without realizing it. The artist wants to show us these creatures on one hand, and ourselves on the other, creates them in her imagination and turns them into hyper-realistic sculptures with a moving form. They are terrifying or beautiful, repulsive or surprisingly alluring, but always – provoking reflection. These strange human-animal characters arouse our wild curiosity and anxiety, because we as a species have always been primitively emotional about peculiarities, deformed people, different from what we consider the norm, different from ourselves. Patricia Piccinini shows us a future that is just being born, as Leonardo da Vinci and Jules Verne used to do."
Marek Żydowicz, curator
